Prep First, Paint Second

On the exterior, we started with an oil-modified primer to seal in wood tannins and keep them from bleeding through the finish. After priming, we caulked every gap, because caulk bonds much better to a primed surface than to bare wood. We finished with two coats of Emerald Rain Refresh, a paint known for its durability and moisture resistance. Inside, we caulked gaps and filled small holes in the newly installed trim for a seamless look, then applied two full coats to the trim before moving on to the walls. Before any wall work began, we covered the floors and protected the homeowners' belongings, then primed and painted the walls to finish the space.
